On Tuesday, 10 September the Town hosted one of its regular business breakfast's for local business owners in Sturbridge. This breakfast was well attended by a diverse group of business owners and featured excellent discussions on subjects ranging from annual license renewals to transportation. Town staff discussed...
- The Town's receipt of a $24,850 grant from the Commonwealth Community Compact to conduct an economic development self assessment and to develop an economic development strategy for Sturbridge;
- The Sturbridge Tourist Association's goal to invest in the development of a brand that can be used to promote the town to new audiences and to develop a plan to market it;
- The new community events such as the bonfires and Farmers Market that the Special Events Committee are bringing to town;
- The new revisions to the town's Tax Incentive Policy;
- The new digital friendly business license form;
- A reminder that September is emergency preparedness month in the Commonwealth, and all businesses should consider developing disaster plans by using the resources found on the Town's website.
The major focus of the meeting was providing an overview of the annual license renewal process. Town staff went through and explained the entire process from start to finish and addressed common concerns with the process. For those who would like to learn more please view the presentation linked at the top of the page.
