Emergency Preparedness Resources for Business

As a business owner, one of your primary goals is to ensure that no matter what your business remains in operation and healthy. But did you know that 40% of businesses that are adversely affected by a disaster never reopen? Knowing this the Town of Sturbridge wants to ensure that all of its businesses are resilient and prepared for any eventuality.

Below are links with important information to ensure that your business is safe and prepared for any disaster.

Sturbridge Ready - Preparing for All-Hazards in Sturbridge – In June 2017 the Sturbridge Police and Fire Departments, in coordination with the Office of Economic Development made a presentation to businesses on the importance of preparing for disasters. You can view the presentation here.

Ready.gov/business – With everything from preparing go kits to planning for continuity of operations, this site has everything for your business.

IRS.gov – Just because a disaster hit does not mean that taxes and bills go away. Review the IRS’s 584-B Business Casualty, Disaster, and Theft Loss Workbook which can help you prepare in the event of a disaster.

Readyrating.org – The American Red Cross has developed a program called “Ready Rating” to help business mitigate and prepare for disasters.

Cybersecurity - With our ever increasing connection to the internet, cybercrimes are becoming more prevalent with each passing day. It is important that we take steps to protect ourselves online and be prepared for any eventuality.
