This Special Permit application has been submitted on behalf of Hadley Zabinski, sole proprietor and general manager of Paw Plaza. Paw Plaza has been in the planning stages for Zabinski for over three years, and 1 River Road has been identified for the perfect fit for her business. Extensive research and planning has gone into the business plan and site design to assure that Paw Plaza will not present any detriment to the environment, neighborhood or community.

Pursuant to Section 20.05 of the Zoning Bylaws, the applicant is requesting a change in use to a proposed dog care facility. The existing property at 1 River Road is a retail facility; the applicant is proposing to bring a luxury full-service pet daycare, lodging, training and grooming facility to the community. The facility will utilize the existing structures on site with minimal site work needed. The proposed use of dog care facility will help promote the health, safety and convenience, morals and welfare of the present and future inhabitants of the Town of Sturbridge. The proposed layout of the facility will facilitate the adequate provisions of transportation, water, sewerage, open space, safety from fire and other dangers and provide adequate air and light to prevent the overcrowding of land and increase the amenities of the municipality.

The public hearing is currently scheduled for March 21st at 6:55pm.
