COVID-19 Update from Emergency Management

Subject:           Sturbridge COVID-19 Statement

Over the next few weeks the number of people with the virus is expected to increase.  Although, the elderly or people with preexisting conditions can be hit hard by covid-19, please be mindful that this virus has affected the healthy and young in unexpected ways.  As of April 13th, the town is down to 5 active cases showing that people are recovering.

  • Stay Home and reduce your number of trips to stores as much as possible
  • Use a mask if you must go out
  • Business reduced to essential services or online
  • Practice Social distance and use online social apps to stay in touch

This is a very fluid situation and we encourage everyone to obtain their news and information responsibly from trusted and reliable sources.  There are many groups using this time to steal personal information so be aware of who you are giving you information to online or over the phone.  https://Mass.gov/covid-19 is the best place to start and very comprehensive across all matters.

All offices are working remotely as much as possible.  On-site staffing is minimal and, in some cases, no onsite staff.

Although, the personal risk to these professionals has increased, it is business as usual to serve the public.  New protocols and universal precaution have been implemented to stay safe and an increased call volume has them all very busy but not overwhelmed.  You may see them in more protective gear depending on the response but despite their best efforts individuals will need to Self-Quarantine from time to time.  All self-quarantined individuals have returned

Board of Health

The BOH continue to support State guidelines and keep business and functions compliant.  Additional staffing has been brought on board to manage case history and case review.  As of April 13th, the town is down to 5 active cases showing that people are recovering.
