Sturbridge Visitor Guides - 2018

Every year the Sturbridge Tourist Association (STA) publishes a Visitor Guide that is distributed throughout the central Massachusets region and northern Connecticut. This year the STA is offering a special deal. If you choose to advertise your business in the guide, the STA will subsidize the cost of your advertisements. If this is your first time purchasing advertisements in the guide, the subsidy will be fifty percent off! If you are a return advertiser it will be approximately forty percent off! If you are interested in participating please contact the Economic Development and Tourism Coordinator for more information.  

Conservation Commission – Update to Regulations

The Conservation Commission is currently working to update its Regulations. If you would like to learn more about the changes here are some resources you can refer to:

  • DRAFT Changes: The Conservation Commission has posted the proposed changes on their website. You can view the document that highlights the changes by clicking here. Please note that this document may be updated so please refer back to the website to review any updates.

  • 11/20/2017 Board of Selectman Meeting: The Conservation Commission spoke at a Public Hearing of the Board of Selectman and answered their questions regarding the proposed changes to the regulation. You can view that meeting by clicking here.  The relevant section of the meeting starts at approximately the 7:15 minute mark.

  • Future Meetings: There will be future public meetings on this subject in the coming weeks/months. If you would like to attend those meeting please consult the Town calendar for more information.

Sturbridge Special Events Committee – Farmers Market

At the November 28th meeting of the Sturbridge Special Events Committee, it was decided that the Town should create a local Farmers Market. This decision was based on a survey that was conducted at this year’s Harvest Festival where a majority of respondents called for a Farmers Market. With this in mind the Committee would like to see a Sturbridge Farmers Market created in 2018.

The Special Events Committee is looking for volunteers to join a newly formed Farmers Market Planning Committee, whose purpose will be the creation and management of the Sturbridge Farmers Market.  If you are interested in serving on the Planning Committee or would like more information, please contact Kevin Filchak at kfilchak@town.sturbridge.ma.us or call 508-347-2500 ext. 1411.

Furthermore if you are a local vendor who would like to participate in the Farmers Market in the coming year, please contact Kevin Filchak using the above information so that we can pass along your information to the committee for further follow up.

Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals and Design Review Committee

Upcoming Town Meetings

All meetings are subject to change. Please check with the Town Clerk to confirm meeting time/location. All meetings are required by law to be posted no less than 48 hours in advance of the meeting. Meetings are posted both online and on the bulletin board outside of the Town Clerks Office in the Town Hall.
