Emergency Preparedness Resources for Residents

A disaster can strike anytime and anywhere and for that reason we encourage everyone to be prepared. There are a number of ways in which you can prepare for emergency situations. Below are links to some excellent resources to help you and your family be prepared:

Ready.gov – A great website from FEMA that highlights any number of ways you can prepare for anything with everything from building a go kit to preparing financial documents.

American Red Cross – The American Red Cross provides trainings on any number of subjects from First Aid to CPR. These are excellent skills to have during a disaster situation.

CERT - Want to gain valuable response skills and help your community? Check out the Community Emergency Response Team or CERT for short. CERT is a national program that trains local community members to be prepared for disasters and to help responders.

ready.alaska.gov – This PDF from the Alaska Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security and Emergency Management is a great guide for building up a 7 day emergency kit for your home and family over a 12 week period. It’s affordable and effective.

Cybersecurity - With our ever increasing connection to the internet, cybercrimes are becoming more prevalent with each passing day. It is important that we take steps to protect ourselves online and be prepared for any eventuality.
