Temporary Moorings, Floats, Rafts, Ramps, & Docks Permit

Temporary Moorings, Floats, Rafts, Ramps, & Docks Permit Flow Chart

In Sturbridge, the Board of Selectmen serve as the Harbor Master governing the five (5) lakes that can be found in Town. In order to place a temporary mooring, float, raft or ramp for a water craft, the Board of Selectmen must first issue a permit. The Harbor Master only issues permits for temporary structures; all permanent structures must seek approval from DEP, the Conservation Commission and/or the Army Corps of Engineers (if filling or dredging is requested).

All applicants must provide one or all of the following: scale drawing, plot plan, GIS diagram of their property that includes property lines and location of any dock(s) in relation to the shoreline.  Permits must be renewed yearly with any/and all changes.

Once your completed application is received you will be notified when it will go before the Board of Selectmen.
